Work-Related Spinal Injury Devastates Professional

Disability Wiki.

A work-related team building exercise resulted in a serious spinal injury for our client, Jack.  When Jack first came to Riemer Hess, he had worked through his injury for nearly a year.  Despite continued treatment, his symptoms were progressing in severity and he found himself experiencing more and more difficulty performing his job Jack eventually went out on a medical leave of absence and was awarded salary continuation by his employer.  However, Jack needed guidance pursuing Long Term Disability benefits because he knew that his injuries would prevent him from working longer than his salary continuation would last.

back-pain-2.jpgJack met with Mr. Riemer who patiently guided him through the process and instilled confidence that Riemer Hess would get the job done. Jack quickly retained the firm and Team Riemer got to work. Given Jack’s young age, Mr. Riemer knew that the insurance company would be reluctant to grant him continuous disability benefits. Mr. Riemer knew that is was imperative to avoid an in-person interview between Jack and the insurance carrier to avoid any possible age prejudice.  The strategy was to obtain as much medical evidence as fast as possible and to have Jack undergo a comprehensive Functional Capacity Evaluation.

Team Riemer was successful.  Jack avoided an in person interview and was quickly awarded Long Term Disability benefits within three months of retaining the firm.

Team Riemer continues to assist Jack by monitoring his benefits. Team Riemer will also assist Jack when his policy’s definition of disability changes in the future.
