Disability Paralegal/Case Manager

Riemer & Associates is a boutique midtown law firm that assists disabled individuals through the disability claims process under ERISA and individual insurance policies. We take great pride in providing our disabled clients with strategic, stress-free solutions as we guide them through the disability claims process.

Responsibilities and Duties
You will be the primary contact of an assigned roster of clients who seek assistance during a desperate time of need. You will have substantial interaction with clients, prospective clients, doctor's offices, and insurance companies. You will foster a strong relationship of trust, respect, and reliance with our clients while acting as the face of our firm. The job is challenging and deeply rewarding.
Your duties include: (1) customer service of an assigned roster of clients: (2) preparation of disability application forms; (3) preparation of client, doctor, employer and family affidavits and other written statements; (4) preparation of correspondence and other written materials; (5) review of medical records, employment records, insurance policies; (6) monitoring deadlines and other docket items; and (7) light administrative duties, including scanning and proofreading.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will have an upbeat personality and a genuine interest in helping others. You will need compassion, patience, and the ability to give clear advice. You also need to be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and must take pride in a job well done. We seek someone who thrives in a collaborative team environment. Superior writing, communication and computer skills are also necessary. Professionalism is a must. Attention to detail is essential.
Candidates must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
Experience in the following areas is desired but not essential: ERISA disability claims; Social Security Disability claims; Workers Compensation claims; nursing; social work; and medical records. Compensation commensurate with experience.
