Rachel Wilgoren
Associate Following graduation from Columbia Law School and Columbia School of Social Work in 2002, Ms. Wilgoren worked first at Proskauer Rose LLP (in the Healthcare Department) and then at Blank Rome LLP (in the Matrimonial Department) prior to joining the Firm.
Ms. Wilgoren has an extensive background in healthcare, having worked in Communications at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, as a social work intern at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital (outpatient psychiatry service) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (outpatient breast cancer center), and as a healthcare attorney, representing providers.
Disability rights is an issue close to her heart, as her mother succumbed to pulmonary fibrosis —a terminal lung disease — in 2006. Following her mother’s death, Ms. Wilgoren became very involved with the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, moderating its on-line grief support group, raising money for it during a cross-country trek and increasing awareness of the disease through a website she created in her mother’s memory.
In her spare time, Ms. Wilgoren is very involved with Sanctuary for Families’ Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services. She serves on its Associates Committee, has volunteered in various capacities and has represented indigent clients on a pro bono basis.
